Our Success is measured by the opportunities we create for our young athletes.  To this end we constantly strive to develop the talents and mental strength of the Portmore United player as the first step in what is to be a rewarding professional career in the “Big Leagues” overseas.  Some of this success is seen in players such as Claude Davis (Derby County), Omar Daley (Bradford City), Rudolph Austin (SK Brann-Norway), Jason Morrison and Rafe Wolfe (Ferencvaros-Hungary), Demar Stewart (Chengdu Blades-China) and Roen “Bumpy” Nelson and Wolry Wollfe (Joe Public-Trinidad)

Portmore United, Formally Hazard United, boasts some of the country’s best football talents. In addition, the Club’s Board members includes an overwhelming wealth of experience who has contributed to the growth of football in Jamaica.

Having laid a solid foundation, former Technical Director Horace Reid, who is also the Executive Director of the Caribbean Football Union’s Marketing Division as well as the general coordinator for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, resigned his post upon his ascension to the post of General Secretary of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).  However,  the entire coaching staff is made up of former Jamaican National players who have the knowledge and experience to guide the club technically.

The club has developed numerous talents that has gone on to represent Jamaica at the Senior, Under-23, Under-20 and Under-17 levels. Portmore United FC has also exposed players to international football in markets like Western Europe, the USA and recently the Caribbean (Trinidad & Tobago) as well as China.  Currently, the Club has no less than sixteen (16) players representing Jamaica at all levels.

The Club continues the major renovation project to make Ferdie Neita Park a more enjoyable atmosphere to watch games.  This includes the aforementioned installation of the East Stands and V.I.P. seating, covered player benches, permanent restrooms and a food and beverage stand.

The Club prides itself on developing a ‘winning’ culture and professional attitude.  The Club’s objectives for the year are to;

  • Establish the Portmore United Football Academy
  • Complete the second phase of the Ferdie Neita Park Infrastructure Development Program
  • Win all competitions in which we participate
